Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on a whole-body approach, where the practitioner not only treats the patient's symptoms, but also the root causes of the disease. The patient will be encouraged to participate in the healing process by addressing emotional and lifestyle factors contributing to imbalances.
Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology are modalities of Traditional Chinese Medicine that aim to prevent and cure specific diseases and conditions. These ancient Chinese methods of healing date back 2500 years or more.
Acupuncture works by treating the body's energy flow, called Qi. Qi circulates within our body and all living things. This invisible energy flows through pathways called meridians. Each meridian is connected to specific cells, tissues, muscles, organs and glands. These meridians can be accessed through Acupuncture points which have a specific effect upon the vital energy flowing through it.
If the Qi flow becomes restricted, a number of symptoms may arise, such as pain. By inserting the fine, sterile needles at specific points on the body, an acupuncturist is able to break up blockages, address imbalances and restore the free flow of Qi.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes the ability of Chinese Medicine to treat many commonly encountered clinical disorders. Please refer to Acupuncture: Review and Analysis of Reports on Controlled Clinical Trials.

Compared to hypodermic needles, the insertion of Acupuncture needles typically causes no pain at all. The pain of hypodermic needles is caused by the thick hollow needle and the medication injected into the tissue. Acupuncture needles on the other hand are hair-thin and solid.
Yes. We use one-time use, disposable, sterile needles. Acupuncture needles on the other hand are hair-thin and solid.
The first visit will take 60-90 min. Follow-up visits will be 45-50 min.
It depends on your condition. A long-time chronic ailment will take longer to resolve than a short-time acute issue. We will ask you initially to come twice a week for 6-8 visits or until you show improvements. Everybody responds differently. As soon as there is progress we will extend the time between your visits, working towards a maintenance schedule. For some people, that is once a month, seasonally or once a year. We will find the right balance between your finances and what your body needs.
The standard charge is $75 per visit. Herbs are an additional charge.
Depending on the condition, herbs are prescribed in pill form or as a custom extract powder formula.
It is best to eat a small nutritious meal 1-3 hours before the treatment. Avoid eating a large meal right before the visit, but please do not come for a morning appointment on an empty stomach (always eat breakfast).
Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
For best results, please avoid strenuous activity for at least six hours after a treatment.
"On my first visit to ACTIVE Life Acupuncture I was a little apprehensive because I really didn't know what to expect. I had been suffering with excruciating pain in my lower back to the point that I was bent over and looked like an "L". I tried muscle relaxers and pain medication with no relief. One of my coworkers, who is another satisfied patient of Nicole's, recommended that I call her.
As I walked in before my first treatment, I was hunchbacked and shuffling my feet. After my 1st treatment, I was astounded when I was able to stand erect and able to walk, yet slowly...but fairly normal with little pain. I was on a weekly treatment program for 3 months and I'm now on a maintenance program.
I do highly recommend Nicole Rasor of ACTIVE Life Acupuncture!"
~Delene, Dental Office Manager
"For several years I have been receiving acupuncture from Nicole primarily for premenopausal issues. She has always been ahead of the curve with treatment, prescribing different herbal blends as needed during this ever changing time of my life. I am confident that through my treatment with Nicole that I will continue to transition into the next stage smoothly, and more importantly without the need of synthetic hormones. She's the best!"

“Active Life Acupuncture has been a valuable asset to my athletic pursuits. Whether my ailment is sports related, or illness induced, the treatment I received from Ms. Rasor improves my situation and my overall well-being. I have been at competitions when specific muscles in my back and neck cramped and threatened my athletic
performance. I was treated by Active Life Acupuncture during my tournament week
without any negative effects. My physical condition immediately improved, my muscles relaxed, and my performance enhanced. Active Life Acupuncture offers a non-abrasive method of therapeutic healing that is right for everyone, regardless of age or activity choice.”

“I first went to see Nicole upon the recommendation of my personal trainer. I have had
various injuries in my lifetime and was suffering from hip bursitis, which was interfering with training and my everyday range of motion. The bursitis rarely bothers me now, and if it flares up, I tell Nicole, and she fixes me right up.
I continue to go to Nicole for low back pain, nagging knee pain from a replacement done a year ago, and hormonal issues. She has done wonders with all my ailments, but I’m especially impressed with how she has practically eradicated a hamstring/gluteus knot that used to drive me crazy when I drove long distances. I recently drove 13 hours to California and was amazed to realize after I got there that the butt pain I usually get never appeared.
I used to take a lot of pain medication and now I take absolutely none, not even
ibuprofen or aspirin.
I highly recommend Nicole for any ailment. And this statement comes from a person
who was very skeptical about acupuncture when I first started. She has helped me in
so many ways, and I feel so lucky I met her.”
~Val
“I first began seeing Nicole seeking relief from vertigo. On a good day, I would have
brief “spinning” sensations and on a bad day I would be flat on my stomach clinging to
my bed for dear life. After a few short months of treatment, I have seen a marked
improvement in my bouts of vertigo. Not only are they few and far between, but also
much reduced in severity.
Recently, I managed to do some damage to my right elbow. A trip to the traditional
western-style MD resulted in a long list of what they couldn’t do for my “tennis elbow”.
The next day I made a appointment with Nicole and two weeks later the improvement in my elbow is dramatic. I’ve gladly recommended Nicole and her needles to several
friends (some of whom are now patients) and will definitely continue to do so in the
future.”
~Judy
“I’ve had a problem with pain in my elbow and Nicole and her magic needles have
relieved that pain. This was very important for me to get this relief, as I am a
Needlepoint Teacher. She has also successfully helped me with other concerns. I
would highly recommend her services.”
~Kathy, Needlepoint Teacher
“I am an active middle-aged person with a very stressful job as a nurse in an ICU. I
suffered a small stroke and was placed on lots of medications. I felt drugged and tired
all the time. I hated the feeling the medications gave me. I was anxious all the time and needed something that would help me and not just cover my symptoms with pills. I looked into acupuncture as an alternative treatment and found Nicole Rasor. She has helped me manage my stress and overcome my anxiety. I’m still on medication but with less stress, I was able to lower my dosages. I still see Nicole for hormonal issues and knee pain on a regular basis. I love acupuncture and can’t say enough good things about how beneficial it was and is for me.”
~Cindy, RN in an ICU
“Several years ago, I began to be seriously troubled with pain in my left shoulder, which was severe enough to prevent sleep at night and to cause “tingling” all the way to my fingers. My physician told me it was arthritis and not much could be done other than pain killers. At my wife’s suggestion and not much confidence in the technique I decided to try acupuncture.
Nicole began to treat me, at first several times a week, and then weekly, then monthly
and I am now essentially pain free for months at a time only going in at about 1-to-2-
month intervals for preventative “tune-up”.
At this point, my wife and mother all use Active Life treatments for age-related
discomfort and are extremely satisfied with the results. Nicole has helped all of us to
maintain an active lifestyle.”
~James, Retired Physics Professor
“I have been very pleased with the care/treatments I received from Nicole Rasor. She
has been treating my lower back pain for the past couple of years and has helped
greatly keeping me fit to play golf.”
~Dave, golfer
“I have been treated by Nicole for the past six months now and the results are amazing. Not only has she been able to work with my physical but mental as well. It seems that no matter what’s going on, she has a treatment and a plan of attack for addressing these issues. For long periods of time, I would get a severe stomach cramp in the morning sometimes causing me to throw up. Western medicine was unable to give me an answer for this condition and all treatments I tried gave me no lasting relief. Within a few visits, I noticed a significant difference and have not had this type of discomfort since. I am a chiropractor and martial artist, and I know the importance of keeping my body in peak physical condition and with Nicole’s help I have been able to achieve this.
I would highly recommend and have recommended Nicole’s treatment to my patients,
family and friends. Nicole has a unique approach to acupuncture and works with you
towards a common goal. This type of treatment works well on its own or in combination with other treatments. Thank you, Nicole, for everything!
~Jay, Chiropractor and Martial Artist
"Over the past 15 years I have dealt with varicose veins in my legs. Most recently, one leg developed an ulcer. After having surgery to treat and heal the ulcer I noticed that the blood return from my lower extremity was stagnant. I turned to Nicole and Acupuncture on the advice of my wife. Immediately I noticed a difference in my leg. The discoloration improved, swelling went down, and the ulcer healed quickly. I am convinced without Nicole's expertise, knowledge, and skill in acupuncture, I would not have the same results if I treated the leg with conventional methods."
